Dissemination of information on disaster-affected areas at the Main Press Center (MPC) at the Tokyo 2020 Games
In conjunction with the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Reconstruction Agency set up a "Reconstruction Booth" at the Main Press Center (MPC), which serves as a base for media coverage in Japan and overseas, and expressed gratitude for the support to date, disseminated the appearance and charm of the disaster-affected areas that are recovering, dispelling rumors, and other information.
At the reconstruction booth, various videos related to the Reconstruction Olympics and the disaster-affected areas, slides were broadcast, posters were posted, and media from various countries interested in the current situation in the disaster-affected areas watched. In order to be able to sit down and watch videos, we have set up benches made of wood from Fukushima Prefecture.
In addition to exhibiting sample victory bouquets given to Olympic and Paralympic medalists, the booth was vividly decorated with flowers such as Japanese gentian in Iwate Prefecture sunflower in Miyagi Prefecture, and lisianthus in Fukushima Prefecture, used for bouquets.
Media Briefing
We conducted briefings for the media using the reconstruction booths in the MPC, and by connecting storytellers active in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures, as well as producers of agricultural products and flowers, online, we delivered the voices of the disaster-affected areas. In addition, government agencies (Reconstruction Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) reported on the current situation in the disaster-affected areas and the dispelling of rumors. The participating media commented, "I am pleased that the reconstruction of the disaster-affected areas is progressing."
