[3-6 May 2013]Reconstruction Minister visited Ukraine

1. From 3 to 6 May 2013, Mr. Takumi Nemoto, Reconstruction Minister, visited Ukraine to study experiences
and lessons learned from Chernobyl accident in order to use them for revitalization and reconstruction
in Fukushima.
2. Mr. Nemoto met Mr. Oleg Proskuryakov, Minister for Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine,
and visited the site and the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
3. Mr. Nemoto also visited the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Ukraine and
listened to experts on the actual situation at the time of the Chernobyl accident and outline of the
efforts made toward recovery. Mr. Nemoto also paid floral tribute to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster
memorial and exchanged views with the victims.
