                                            Welcome Reception hosted by Sendai City

  On 15 March, 2015, on the occasion of the 3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Reconstruction Agency hosted Special Forum "Revival from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Way Forward" at Hagi Hall, Tohoku University.
  The efforts for reconstruction was introduced by the keynote speech of Minister Takeshita, as well as presentations by people working on the frontline of the afflicted areas. The presentations themes encompassed restoration/community development, livelihoods, mental/spiritual care, restoration of Fukushima, and collaboration with the private sector. Special message from young people proactively communicating with international community from the disaster area was also delivered toward creation of “New Tohoku”.
  On this occasion, Minister Takeshita had bilateral meetings with Ministers from Indonesia (Ms. Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister of Human development and Culture), New Zealand (Mr. Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery), and Australia (Mr. Michael Keenan, Minister for Justice). The Minister explained the recovery status and shared the lessons learned with the countries that also has disaster experiences.
  On the evening of 15th, Minister Takeshita attended the welcome reception for international participants hosted by Sendai City, and made a remark to express appreciation for the support from overseas. He also mentioned the current status of the recovery and the food safety of the disaster area, asking for the understanding and cooperation against harmful rumor.
