 Senior Vice Minister for Reconstruction, Tani visited Indonesia from 2nd to 6th May, 2014, which was affected by the Earthquake off the Coast of Sumatra and Tsunami in the Indian Ocean, in order to share the ideas and lessons learned with a view to further accelerate reconstruction from damages caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and to prepare for future disaster prevention.
 In the Aceh Province, Senior Vice Minister Tani had meetings with Mr. Dermawan, Secretary of the Province of Aceh and Mr. Bahagia, Assistant of the City of Banda Aceh who had expressed their gratitude for a series of supports Japan has given when the Earthquake off the Coast of Sumatra and Tsunami in the Indian Ocean occurred. Senior Vice Minister also thanked their material and mental support for reconstruction from the damages caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Furthermore, he paid a visit to the Syiah Kuala University well-known in terms of joint research for natural disaster with a number of Japanese universities and also visited the disaster-struck areas to witness the current state of reconstruction since the Earthquake off the Coast of Sumatra and Tsunami in the Indian Ocean (2004) (Tsunami Museum, kapal PLTD Apung (Tsunami heritage) and Escape building).
 In the Province of Central Java, Senior Vice Minister Tani had a talk with Mr. Sunarma, Regent of Klaten (Regent of Klaten Regency) giving him an address of thanks for Indonesia’s backing up Japan. He also visited elementary schools and a barrier against debris-slide damaged by the Earthquake Disaster in Central Java (2006) and an eruption of the Mount Merapi (2010). The schools were reconstructed by Japan’s support.
